Handbuilding
I hand build pots which involves rolling out clay with an old fashioned rolling pin, then adding texture and then constructing the piece. I keep my hand built pieces rustic in that I don’t try to make them perfectly round or even. I like that they are a little wonky and irregular. You can tell it is hand made and that is what it is all about.
Throwing
Throwing pots involves involves preparing the clay, centering and throwing pieces on the wheel. It is then dried until leather hard and trimmed on the wheel. Sometimes I alter thrown pots by adding clay to them.
